After 48 wonderful, colourful, occasionally chaotic, and thoroughly silk-filled years, the time has come for me to begin a new chapter - and to offer Roisin Cross Silks for sale.
Founded nearly five decades ago, Roisin Cross Silks began with a simple passion: beautiful fabrics and the belief that quality, craftsmanship, and personal service would never go out of style. Thankfully, despite the pandemic, economic recessions, fast fashion, and the invention of online shopping at 2am, that belief turned out to be true.
Over the years, Roisin Cross Silks has grown into one of Ireland’s best-known and most respected silk specialists. We’ve had the privilege of working with designers, dressmakers, theatres, artists, students, retailers, brides-to-be, costume makers, and generations of wonderfully loyal customers from across Ireland and beyond. Some customers arrived looking for half a metre of silk and stayed for an hour-long chat, which, frankly, has always been one of the best parts of the job.
For the last 20 years, running the business has been deeply personal and enormously rewarding. Like any long-standing business, we’ve weathered changing fashions, shifting economies, and the transformation of retail itself. Through it all, one thing remained constant: the incredible support of our customers and the reputation the business has built through trust, expertise, and genuine care. And yes, there were moments when untangling silk deliveries felt like an Olympic sport - but somehow, we always made it work.
This decision has not been made lightly. Businesses like this become part of your identity, your family, and your daily rhythm. But I truly believe Roisin Cross Silks is now ready for someone new to carry the story forward and build on the strong foundations already in place.

Your loyalty, encouragement, and kindness have meant more than words can say. Truly.
While this marks the end of one chapter for me personally, it is also the beginning of an exciting new one for Roisin Cross Silks. I cannot wait to see where the next custodian takes it.
And who knows…I may finally learn what weekends are.
